Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to make a significant visit to Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on March 7, marking his first trip to the Kashmir Valley since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. The public rally, titled 'Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu Kashmir,' will take place at Bakshi Stadium in the afternoon, as announced by the Prime Minister's Office.

During the rally, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate to the nation the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme, aimed at bolstering the agricultural economy in Jammu and Kashmir with an investment of approximately ₹5,000 crore. Additionally, he will inaugurate several tourism-related projects worth over ₹1,400 crore under the Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD schemes, including the integrated development project for the iconic Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar.

Moreover, the Prime Minister will distribute appointment orders to around 1,000 new government recruits from Jammu and Kashmir and engage with beneficiaries of various government schemes, including women achievers, farmers, and entrepreneurs. The event will also witness the launch of tourism facilities in the Northeast circuit in Meghalaya and spiritual circuits in Bihar and Rajasthan.

As part of a nationwide initiative, Prime Minister Modi will launch the 'Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice 2024' program, aiming to gauge the nation's pulse on tourism preferences.

The public rally holds significant political relevance as it is part of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) election campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. While the National Conference holds three Lok Sabha seats in the Kashmir Valley, the BJP secured two seats in the Jammu region in the 2019 elections, in addition to the lone seat in Ladakh.

This visit marks Prime Minister Modi's second trip to Jammu and Kashmir in less than a month, following his rally in Jammu on February 20, where he inaugurated development projects worth over ₹32,000 crore across the country.

With the BJP aiming for a target of 370 seats and beyond for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Prime Minister Modi's speeches during his nationwide tour have emphasized the government's welfare schemes and their tangible benefits to the citizens, reflecting the party's electoral strategies leading up to the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
